Web speed in Japan

One thing I was surprised at coming to Europe is the internet speed is slower than in Japan. I thoughts most of European countries have a high-bandwidth network which should be higher than in Asia. I lived in France. The web speed was so slow that I stopped to download a movie my friend in Japan sent to me. My understanding to developed countries was not correct. The following article says, South Korea has very high-web speed services. Akamai: South Korea still leads world in web speeds, China finally speeding up(Tech Asia) Since I love Korea, I was used to go 2-3 times in a year. I’ve never had any

Japan: 26th in global English proficiency

JAPAN TODAY “Japan ranks 26th of 60 countries in global English proficiency” The article says, “Japan’s EPI score in the survey was 53.21, down 0.96 points from the first edition, which used test data from 2007-2009. Among Asian countries, Malaysia and Singapore scored highest, coming 11th and 12th respectively, with Hong Kong 22nd, South Korea 24th and China 34th.” We cannot compare to other Asian countries basically. One of the reasons we’re not good at English is we don’t need to use and have chance to speak English in our daily life even in business. As you many know, Japan has a huge domestic demand which triggers us not to

Japanese is difficult to learn?

YES!!! I don’t think Japanese is easy language to learn. We have 3 types of characters etc…. This is very nice article to summarize why it is difficult to learn Japanese? When anyone ask me the question, I always say ‘It’s really difficult. Unless you live in Japan or you LOVE Anime/manga, it would be impossible to learn Japanese’. Amazingly I met some non-Japanese who can speak and write Japanese so fluently. In most of the cases, they love Japanese culture itself. Hence they have had a big passion to understand what we talk. Japanese is totally different from other languages. When Japanese would like to learn other language, it’s

No TV life in Japan?

Twitter, LINE, Facebook etc…. There are so many Social Networks in our life. On the other hand, 1 day is 24 hours which does not change. Then we decide how we use our time. I heard that many Japanese have stopped watching TV. When I was in Japan, I turned on TV as soon as I came back to my home. At the same time, I turned on PC as well. While I ate dinner, I saw TV and searched on the internet. I assume that’s one typical life style for a single life. I was crazy about TV although it was not useful or fun. Here is very interesting

Is Japan Galapagos Island?

Japanese understand we’re different from other countries. Of course, each country has an original culture and different language, but Japan has something special characteristics. People who I met in Europe told me that I’m interested in going to Japan because it’s UNIQUE and Exotic. Wow!! Japan is still exotic country!! ((This is just an image:)) A Japanese domestic cell phone is called ‘Galapagos mobile’ because the mobile is used only in Japan and isolated from other mobiles. Then I read an interesting article which is written by CTO of one tech company. 落ちゲー「Candy Crush Saga」が教えてくれた、日本の鎖国状態 *Only Japanese Eng Translation – Japan is still in national isolation: Candy Crush Saga He

Tendency for search in Japan

We, Japanese, have a tendency to search for internet before we buy something. We trust review how people evaluate a product. Word of Mouth on internet is quite important tool to understand the product. As you may know, kakaku.com is one of the largest WOM websites in Japan. We check the review and price before we go to a shop. Most of e-commerce shops have a function to post reviews because we believe the review from the real customer is trustworthy word.
